Plein Air Painters of Utah: Art on the Highway
November 15, 2023- March 16, 2024

Art on the Highway celebrates Highway 89’s historic and cultural impact on Utah with dozens of artworks created en plein air (painted outdoors, on site) by members of the Plein Air Painters of Utah.

Highway 89 has long been recognized as a particularly scenic route by nature loving travelers, stretching nearly 2,000 miles through the Western United States. The highway passes seven national parks, fourteen national monuments, and runs directly through Springville, Utah, acting as the City’s Main Street. Highway 89 connected towns throughout Utah before the construction of Interstate-15.

Since the 1970s, the Plein Air Painters of Utah have been dedicated to painting Utah’s historical landscapes. This year and beyond, the organization decided to focus on their favorite spots along Highway  89.
